A collection of vehicles have run Alkylyst biodiesel over the year, including…
1982 Mercedes Benz 300 CD: Used as a daily commuter in Providence RI to NYC from 2008-2012. Approximately 600 gallons of biodiesel was used in blends from B5-B100. Early on the fuel filter was loosened by the lubricity of the biodiesel but no other engine problems were experienced. Biodiesel for this vehicle was made at the Department of Chemistry at Brown University and the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology at Bronx Community College.
2010 Volkswagen Golf TDI: Operated from 2012-2014 with blends containing upwards of 300 gallons of biodiesel and no engines problems. Fuel was purchased from Biofuel Oasis in Berkeley, CA when commuting to the Joint Bioenergy Institute. From 2014-2018 the vehicle returned to the East Coast and made regular trips between Ashville and Charlotte, NC, stopping for biodiesel at Gas Up, provided by our friends at Blue Ridge Biofuels. Dent on hood was not caused by biodiesel!
2015 BMW 328d: Operated from 2018-2024 with an average of 7% blend (B7) of biodiesel, per BMW specifications! Valve covers replaced in 2023, otherwise no issues with engine. Car has travelled regularly from Charlotte to Outer Banks NC. Surf’s up!
